The meeting began with a moment of silence in honor of H.P. Walker who passed away.

Last Week’s Speaker - Denny Burkhead, former FBI agent

 Denny Burkhead, a former FBI agent in charge of the Baton Rouge office, spoke at the January 14 meeting. 

Burkhead stated that the FBI requires candidates to have a college degree. The degree does not have to be in any specific field because the FBI accepts applicants from a wide variety of majors. The FBI employs approximately 11,000 Special Agents and 16,000 Professional Support Personnel. The FBI's headquarters are in Washington D.C., with support given to 56 field offices.

Burkhead retired from the FBI in 2000.

On Wednesday, Jan. 21, our club will be the division 8A host for the governor?s visit. Due to this event, our weekly meeting will not be held at its normal location. The meeting will begin at noon and lunch will cost each member $13. The club will cover the remainder of the bill. Please make sure to notify Brandt if you will be attending this special meeting.

The Board approved a $1,000 donation to the district’s River of Life Fund in honor of H.P. Walker. Mrs. Walker will receive the River of Life painting at the Mid-Winter Conference.

The Board approved senior status for Cliff Comeaux.

There is still time to sell sponsorships for our baseball tournament.
