Seated at the head table with President Jodi Moscona were Amy Cardone, our speaker, and yours truly. Jodi chose Dale Hodges to sing, Wayne Price to pledge allegiance to the flag, and Cal Robbins to pray. Bob Schmidt introduced our guests, Dru Gremillion and Brandon Reborn of the CHS Key Club. David Cresson had three guests, Julie Dauzat, our newest club member, Ed Painter, and Andy McCall.
David Cresson, standing in for Steve Brown, announced that two more teams will be participating in our tournament in the spring and they are Redemptorist High School and Mandeville High School. The total number of teams in the tournament this year will be eight.
With regard to the baseball tournament, Jodi announced that we need sponsorships, as this year we plan to cover all our costs through sponsors, and we are close to doing just that. He said we also need to sell ads for the programs and volunteers are needed to perform a number of tasks. Pleas contact Steve Brown if you can help.
Standing in for Glen Nordyke, Jodi announced that Glen would be taking digital photos for our web page if you haven't already turned one in.
Allan Brent, a fifty-five-year member of this club was presented with his Legion of Honor award by Rick Martin.
Dru Gremillion of the CHS Key Club is looking for donations of items for their club's garage sale scheduled to take place on February 1, 2003. Call Jodi for contact information and the Key clubbers will pick up your donations.
David Cresson introduced our speaker, Amy Cardone, director of guest services for Ollie Steele Burden and St. Clair Manor. She pointed out that Ollie Steele is all private pay and St. Clair is Medicaid funded. She noted that just this year, seven million people over the age of sixty-five will need long term care, and the numbers will keep rising after that. She discussed the present choices of home based care with sitters; community care centers, assisted living, and nursing homes.
In the jackpot Brandt Edwards, Allan Brent, and David Cooley were all losers.
Next week the meeting will be presided over by a guest chair from Circle K.
