Governor’s Visit

Fred Banks, governor of the Louisiana/Mississippi/West Tennessee District of Kiwanis International, addressed divisions 8A and 8B at the Jan. 21 meeting. Governor Banks spoke of the many achievements of both our district and the other Baton Rouge area clubs.

He encouraged all Kiwanis members to participate in the governor’s project by donating books to children and volunteering to read to the children. Governor Banks also stressed the importance of being involved with sponsored youth because they are the future of not only the Kiwanis organization but also our society. Governor Banks ended by singing "What a Wonderful World."

The Capital City Kiwanis Club and its sponsored youth were well represented at the governor’s visit. Among the CCK attendees were President Brandt Edwards, First Vice President Brett Mason, Treasurer Rick Martin, Secretary Ben Brown, and members Cal Robbins, Jodi Moscona, Charles Rea, Robert Wales and Terry Bell. Ralph Johnson and Chassidy Dupont of the LSU chapter of Circle K were in attendance. Brian Rebowe of Catholic High’s Key Club was also in attendance.
