Last meeting – Wednesday January 25, 2006

Speaker: Matt Deville, editor of the Tiger Rag.

Matt gave all a general update on each of the major sports at LSU.  Some highlights included:

Football: Quarterback competition, loss of line coach, recruiting battles and ticket prices rising.  He said we should keep a watch on Randall Mackey from Bastrop .  Randall, a 10th grader accounted for over 2800 yards and 29 touchdowns.  He is 15 years old, 185 pounds, 5'’11’’.  He actually was a transfer from Port Sulphur as a result of the hurricane.

Basketball: he suggests we could have best front line in nation.  One prominent sports figure included LSU as a team to make the elite 8.

Women’s Basketball: one of the best in the nation.  Reminded us that Simone Augustus has only 6 home games remaining.

Baseball: struggling this year.  Leading return hitters bat only .253.  Lost for some time the first baseman.  Probably lost for baseball career is the 3rd baseman.

Softball: hold on their new stadium because of costs.
