Ø        Motion was made by Eddie Painter to promote Jerry Boyce from President-Elect to President.

Ø        Seconded by Carl Hancock.

Ø        Motion passes by voice vote.

Ø        Bill Stracener will be attendance chair.

Ø        George Simoneaux will chair Agriculture Committee.

Ø        David Cresson suggested that we have a meeting once per quarter as a community service project at St. Vincent de Paul, serving lunch to the homeless.

Ø        Secretary’s report (Eddie Painter):

Ø        Board meeting last night got the club refocused.

Ø        There will be 8 committees that will report at the club meetings on a rotating basis, 2 reports per week.

Ø        A listing of the committees and their chairs and members will be sent to everyone.

Ø        Bulletin will be re-established, everyone please be sure that your contact info is updated.

Ø        The Program Committee will be chaired by Charles Rea, and will re-establish a regular schedule and keep club informed.

Ø        The Circle K district convention is March 11-12. We have been asked to provide on Saturday, March 11, for about 150 people. We will need about 15 people to help, and a signup list will be distributed. [You may also reply to this e-mail if you wish to participate]

Ø        Southeast Kiwanis is about to fold. The Interclub Committee should assemble a group of 4 to create an Interclub meeting, and try to get some of their members to join us. (Monday 2/7, 12:00n at Drusilla Seafood) They also sponsor 2 key clubs (Parkview Baptist and Episcopal)

Ø        Baseball Tournament will include the same teams from last year, except for Second Baptist from Houston . Brusly will participate in their place.

Ø        Brandt Edwards has asked for and received a 6-month leave of absence from the club due to a new professional opportunity.

Ø        Special Olympics will be held February 11-13, and will need help with setup and basketball scorekeeping.

Ø        Charles Rea will need someone to attend Mid-Winter conference with him on February 12 in Jackson , MS . Carl Hancock offered to go.

Ø        As new president, Jerry promised to meet everyone’s expectations of a properly functioning and successful Kiwanis club.

Ø        Interclub Committee report: Attended Southeast Kiwanis meeting on February 7.

Ø        Bill Stracener still needs volunteers for the Special Olympics this weekend. Signup list was distributed.

Ø        Secretary’s report: reviewed committees and chair assignments.

Ø        David Cresson reported that he has arranged for some of our members to serve lunch at St. Vincent ’s on Wednesday, March 16. They do not have the space or necessity to accommodate the entire club, so we will decide whether or not to have a separate meeting from St. Vincent ’s.

Ø        Bob Schmidt will schedule an Orientation meeting soon for all members who have yet to be officially oriented (including the new president).

Ø        Robert Woosley from Legg Mason was the guest speaker. He spoke in detail about successful financial planning, and how to invest depending upon your intentions (retirement, wealth, etc.).
