The Feb. 11 meeting was held at Springhill Suites with lunch from The Jambalaya Shoppe. Julie Dauzat organized the meeting.

Last Week’s Speaker:  Marketa Garner Gautreau, Leadership Team Member for Prevent Child Abuse Louisiana

Marketa Garner Gautreau, of Prevent Child Abuse Louisiana, spoke at the Feb. 11 meeting. She spoke about the unique services the program provides to parents. 

PCA offers free counseling to parents on how to deal with frustrations arising from raising children and ways to avoid becoming violent in these situations. The organization also encourages the building of parks because recreational activities build healthy relationships between parents and their children.


Announcements:

The Feb. 18 meeting will not be held at The Great Wall as previously announced. The Great Wall has postponed the grand opening of their new location. The meeting will be held at the Springhill Suites (off of Essen Lane). Lunch will be catered by Semolina’s. Please RSVP to Brandt.

The guest speaker for the Feb. 18 meeting will be Ed Buggs. Buggs is the host of the Ed Buggs Show on talk radio 1300 AM. 

The board approved the resignation of Chad Olivier at the February meeting.

Port of Baton RougeField Trip- Our Feb. 4 meeting was held at the Port of Baton Rouge. Members were treated to a box lunch from Jason’s Deli in the Port board room, where an informational video was shown. The tour began at the sugar warehouse and then proceeded to a storage warehouse and the docks. The tour concluded at the construction site of the dockside container transfer facility, where members learned about the barge stacker machine.
