We met at OLOL, Auditorium B, and everything was good. We even had dessert! Jodi selected Bill Eason to set the key for our song, Steve Brown to lead the Pledge, and Joe Culotta to say a prayer. Our newest member, Julie Dauzat, introduced a guest - and prospective member - Andy McCall.

Steve reminded us of the upcoming baseball tournament March 1, and Jodi spoke briefly about our need for new Youth Projects and new ideas. After this he congratulated Cliff Comeaux on his 90th birthday. A card was circulated for everyone to sign. Cliff has been a continuous member since he became a Charter Member of CCK when it was founded in 1946. Second oldest CCK member is Allan Brent, who came in about five months later. Ladies and Gentlemen, that's 55 or 56 years!! More years than many of you have lived.

And then another great program - Beverly Majors, asst. Director of LSU Career Services, outlined the many activities that serve the university and its graduates, strengthening Chancellor Emmert's plans for the future. The department helps with career counseling and placement. Graduation and retention rates are rising. Seventy-five percent of students work, even though tuition is free. TOPS has opened the gates for new college students, many whose parents are not college graduates. Ms. Majors contradicts the newspaper's claim about Louisiana's brain-drain, and that was good to hear. She said the paper is only talking about business students when they say there is a brain drain. The literature she passed out has special interest. The multi sheet enclosure, particularly the 14th, has great meaning for us Kiwanians. If you or your business has a job opening and wants to post it at LSU call 578-2674

Finally, the cries of disappointment, as jackpot cards were drawn - Charlie Hair sobbed, Charles Rea bawled, and Dave Daniel, who wasn't here, lost.

Next week, come prepared to be hypnotized. The speaker will be Conrad Adams, of Infinity Hypnosis Institute. To some hypnosis is mysterious - but it will be no longer, if you come!

P. S. Rick Martin presented Legion of Honor pins to Lenton Sartain and Jack Gill at their homes recently. They have both been under the weather but should be returning to see us soon. In total five legion of honor pins have been presented in the last couple of months. Cliff Comeaux, Allan Brent, and Lenton Sartain received Legion of Honor pins for being Kiwanians for 55+ years, and Jack Gill and Lewis Doherty received Legion of Honor pins for being Kiwanians for 50+ years.
