The club met at the Marriott Hotel at noon. President Jodi Moscona turned the meeting over to Shannon Tharp from the LSU Circle K Club who presided. At the head table were Jerry Boyce, Jodi Moscona, Steve Brown, and the speaker. Bill Stracener led the song, Chad Olivier the pledge, and Jeff Koonce the prayer. Wilson Baldridge attempted the introductions but there were no guests.
During the announcements Bill Stracener begged for assistance at the Special Olympics on Friday, March 7. The need is for timers, score keepers, etc. Bill Scruggs met with his group about the Baseball tournament after the meeting.
Steve Brown challenged the Club about its support of the Baseball tournament on Saturday, March 1, 2003. He passed out the assignment of duties for club members and said if any changes are needed contact him. The need for cleanup after the games is critical if the stadium is still to be used next year. There is a need for more gasoline powered blowers - if you have one bring it for the cleanup shift.
Participants are needed for an interclub with University High Key Club on Tuesday, March 11 at 12:45 P.M. at U-High.
The President announced that Wayne Price had resigned as Secretary of the Club because of the time requirements of his work. He will remain a member of the club. Nomination for his replacement is Chad Olivier. Election will be next week. There will be a vacancy on the Board to be filled by next week's election. David Cooley has been nominated. Additional nominations for both positions can be submitted.
Jerry Boyce introduced the speaker, Dr. Nicholas Abraham, PhD, a mental health professional. He and our President are both members of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church. He stressed the need for people to connect with their blood. Families are important. Children do watch older people and take their guidance from them.
Dr. Abraham encouraged attendance at the Men's Health Conference to be held at the Pennington Conference Center on March 8, 2003, from 7:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. It is free and will provide screening for cholesterol, blood pressure, blood glucose, health age, foot, body fat, and depression. Free massages and haircuts will be given. Men tend to neglect their health. Women tend to go to the doctor more.
Brandt Edwards and Dick Roberts were chosen from the deck but the jackpot was won by Charles Rea who wasn't present to claim it.
The program next week will be the one originally scheduled for this past week, Conrad Adams of the Infinity Hypnosis Institute. He is the Owner/Director of the Institute which is the only licensed one in Louisiana. He teaches and lectures on the subject and has for thirty years.
