Our guests were several members of the Red Stick Kiwanis Club, who were on hand for an interclub. Also, Jeff Koonce was back for the first time since his accident.

Brandt asked members to give him their comments on our new meeting place.

Jerry Boyce and his wife are expecting their first child on May 5th.

The pot was lost by Ed Painter, Fred Ladner, and Ben Brown.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Roberta Vicari, Medical Director of OLOL Children’s Services

Dr. Vicari spoke about OLOL’s pediatric emergency department devoted solely to the care of children, ages birth to 15.  They are able to treat everything from earaches to major trauma.  The unit contains 12 beds in individual rooms and a fully equipped trauma room.  She also stated that OLOL recently renamed its pediatric care unit to OLOL Children’s Hospital.  Dr. Vicari spoke about God putting her in this position to help to so many children.

Key Club Convention

Several members of our club attended the recent LaMissTenn District Key Club Convention in Biloxi . Rick Martin acted as U-High’s advisor, and Ben Brown, Jason Schwartzenburg, and Jason Darensbourg acted as CHS advisors.

Both our clubs had great showings and members running for Lt. Gov. of 8A. Scott Orillion, a junior to be at CHS, was elected to the position.

Our Pledge to OLOL

Our club has recently pledged to donate $250 of books to the children’s hospital at OLOL. This gift will help this non-profit ward in adding entertainment to comfort and keep the spirits up of children undergoing medical procedures.
