May 28, 2003

The song for the May 28th meeting was performed by Dale Hodges; Esteban led the Pledge; David Cresson said Grace; and Brett Mason made the Introductions.

The June Board meeting will on Thursday, June 5, 2003 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lamar building.

The Club's guests included John Brooks from SportsCare.

Joe Cullota introduced our speaker, Don Powers with the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce. Don said a study indicated that the nine parishes in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area support the local economy. As a result, the Chamber has created a joint marketing approach for the entire nine-parish area, targeted to eight different business clusters: agriculture and food; energy and petrochemicals; environmental technologies and security; forest products; health care and biomedical; information and technology; transportation and logistics; and visitors, arts and entertainment. The June Programs will be as follows:

June 4 - Bobby Jindal, candidate for governor

June 11 - David Rhorer, Downtown Development District

June 18 - Wade Heaton

June 25 - Myrtle Dorsey, Baton Rouge Community College

The jackpot was lost by Jay Jalenak.

By the way, Bob Schmidt, was that you in the 4th frame of the May 26 Doonesbury cartoon? Something about a Yale class reunion?
