Contrary to unsubstantiated rumors, next week's meeting will be at the Marriott. The program will be "The Robe," presented by Wade Heaton.
Congratulations Charlie Comeaux - 9 years perfect attendance.
Our speaker was Dr. Myrtle Dorsey, chancellor of Baton Rouge Community College. Dr. Dorsey has been chancellor for almost one year. She told us of the great successes the College has had in the five years it has been opened. Last year's enrollment was 4,842 students. The College predicts it will have about 6,000 students this next year. The College is expanding its physical facilities with new and refurbished buildings in the works. The College recently received accreditation and will begin to offer federal financial aid to students. Many of its students go on to local universities to complete their degrees.
The jackpot was lost by Julie Dauzat.

K-Facts:
Did you know that the Objects of Kiwanis International are:
(1) To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material
values of life.
(2) To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
(3) To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and
professional standards.
(4) To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and
serviceable citizenship.
(5) To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring
friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.
(6) To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high
idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism,
and goodwill.
