Jodi announced that we are looking for volunteers for the upcoming food drive, to be held on September 6th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  All interested should report to the St. Thomas More Youth House, near Goodwood and Sherwood Forest at that time.

Jeff Koonce introduced our guest speaker, Chad Olivier.  Jeff explained that in addition to being a financial expert, Chad was also a college letterman in Tennis and the host of his own Radio Talk show.   Chad spoke at length about investing and today’s financial climate.  Chad explained that there were 4 main categories of investing: Equities, Bonds, Cash, and Alternative Investing.  He stressed the potential pros and cons of each type of investment, and gave specific examples to illustrate his points.  He also spoke in detail about historical financial and market trends, with a focus on the up and down cycles of the market, and the reasons for it.  Chad emphasized that, at this point in time, the most prudent manner of investing is to have a well-balanced portfolio, complete with at least some of each type of investment.  Thank you Chad for an interesting and informative presentation.

The jackpot was won by Fred Ladner, but he snuck out early, so the pot carried over.
