SPOTLIGHT ON..
          Dee Cothern

I am originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana . probably one of the few people
born in Our Lady of the Lake when it was on a lake. I am in the process of
re-opening THE CABARET THEATER, a live comedy playhouse which I owned and
operated for 9 years. I am married and have two grown daughters, one of
which lives in NYC and works for a major recording company. I joined Capital
City Kiwanis shortly after giving a talk at the request of Brandt Edwards
(it is his fault). Baton Rouge has always been good to me and it is time to
give a little back. Besides, I like the fellowship and networking. I went to
Baton Rouge High School and Southeastern Louisiana University and LSU.

My achievements are mostly in the theatrical arts, including winning Best
Actress at different theaters, operating the only independent theater in
Baton Rouge for many years, and being a charter member of the Baton Rouge
Ballet Theater. I opened the first Talent Agency and then became Baton
Rouge's only full-time free-lance location casting director . I have worked
on such movies as Louisiana, Blaze, The Toy, Long Hot Summer, Lush, and most
recently with Billy Bob Thornton in The Badge filmed here in Baton Rouge.

My husband is a sports fanatic, but he is also very active in theater. Right
now we are pulling for the Cubs, and, of course, LSU.

I can be pretty politically oriented and I would love to have dinner with
Winston Churchill, Golda Meier, and JFK.and a myriad of theater/dance/music
people.

I recently read The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, and recommend it highly. I
love anything forensic. Sea biscuit is next on my reading agenda.

James J. Brady
Federal Judge
Middle District of LA

Judge Brady received his J.D. from LSU Law School in 1969. Jim was
associated or in partnership with Camille F. Gravel in the practice of law
for twenty-three years, in the firm of Gravel, Brady & Berrigan or its
predecessor firms. He was nominated to the federal bench by President
William Clinton in July of 1999 and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May
24, 2000. In 1995 he became the only third term President of the Association
of State Democratic Chairs, which includes designation as a Vice Chair of
the Democratic National Committee. He and his wife Karen have been married
for thirty-five years and they have two children, Sean and Kathleen.
