Baton Rouge Business Report

Rolfe spoke about Baton Rouge encouraging new ideas & entrepreneurs staying in LA. He highlighted that we need to encourage the bright people to stay in LA, especially the young.  He said that our economy took a dive 3 years ago & is slowly climbing its way back.  We have a problem in that we don’t make changes until something is a crisis. At this point the solutions are expensive.  He said that 8 out of 10 people in our area are born here, making it hard for changes to occur. This is because people want things to be done just like they have always been done. He said that our current governor’s election is good publicity for LA & is making news all over the world.

LSU Circle K

LSU will hold their induction ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 6:00 pm in the LSU union. Guest speaker is this bulletin’s editor, Ben Brown. All CCK members are invited to attend.

In Honor of Service

Every year, LSU holds a ceremony to honor those that have & currently serve in the military.  This past Saturday, LSU honored 10 alumni who served our nation with honor & distinction by inducting them into the Hall of Honor. Lt. Col. Calvin Robbins was one of these inductees.

Spotlight on…Julie Dauzat

I am originally from Marksville, LA and I am the youngest of three children.  My dad is a farmer in AvoyelIes Parish and my mom is a housewife.

I graduated from Marksville High School in 1998 and moved to Baton Rouge that summer.  In May of 2002, I graduated from LSU with a degree in Marketing.  A few months later, I was hired by Vista Host, a hotel management company out of Houston.  I became the Area Sales Manager for the SpringHill Suites, Fairfield Inn, and TownePlace Suites by Marriott.

My sister and I just bought a house in Baton Rouge.  We live one street over from my brother and his wife, who is expecting and due in February.  I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my first niece, Kate.

I have really enjoyed being a member of CCK.  I was recruited by David Cresson (but don't like to admit that very often).  I am excited that some female friends have joined CCK.  Being on the Recruitment Committee, I intend to add some more females to the list :)
